If we really love them, it doesn’t matter;
If we don’t really love them, it doesn’t matter.

A wonderful clattering of bells at six, rising at 06.10. And the water in the shower was warm. The sun shines. A draught excluder is placed at the door.

The dogs are now barking furiously. It must be a sign.

What is required today?

08.51    Morning Sitting at 07.15. The late-arriving person left open the door at the end of the long corridor, allowing in a cold draught, so the temperature in the room-of-the-sitting fell. This, a reminder & indication: how we act in one small area of our life is how we act in all the small areas of our life; all the small areas of our life is our life. In this case, carelessly.

Breakfast at 08.00. A wonderful, nourishing Silence came to visit at 08.25.

What is required?

Various cleaning tasks to be addressed this morning. Alain will be meeting with volunteers at 09.30. No hands were needed: the right people will arrive to address what is required.

A sign-up sheet for Personal Meetings with Robert will go on the board; and if translation is needed in these meetings, Fernando is available. Fernando’s role on the course is to function as Translator, into German & Italian.

11.21    A new black Beaudoux has appeared from Buenos Aires. The action is a little high for me, plus the accommodation to local weather, require adjustment of the truss rod.

13.53    Personal meetings began at noon.

Lunch at 13.00 with a wonderful, nourishing Silence visiting at 13.28.

Washing up underway with major cleaning & housework at 14.30.

18.09    Tea at 16.00 with a new table configuration in the dining room.

Tea followed by 6 personal meetings.

20.29    Around 100 participants are now arrived, with a few more tomorrow. A full dining room put the new table-configuration to the test; not quite convincing, but slightly adjusted as food was arriving.

Volunteers for washing up: once again, no hands were needed. The right people will arrive.

Staff meeting called for Room 8, about to begin.

22.07    The staff meeting was followed by a Special Study Group meeting, with one new member.

Help is closer to us than the air that we breathe;
and is carried to us on the breath.
